Pushing new shiny buttons with “The Google”
I will assuredly be posting more about Google Apps in the future, since I’m such a big fan of using a variety of their tools. For now here a couple of articles I came across this week that I thought were worth paying attention too.
From Webware:
How to: Get multiple custom signatures in Gmail
If you use Mozilla’s Firefox as a browser, this is a nice hack that allows you to incorporate a drop down menu of up to 4 different HTML signitures to reply with. Great if you recieve and reply to multiple accounts form one inbox.
From Google Tutor:
Put Video in Google Talk
This is a great new addition to the time saver Gtalk. If you have a Mac with built-in Isight, it’s pretty much plug and play. Which was always the cast with Jabber, which is the same protocol they’re using. Only now it’s just right their in your Gtalk client to see when someone else is online and have a quick video chat. I’ve tested it and it works quite well.

It looks like Video chat has been rolled out for both regular Gmail accounts as well as Apps. You can find your camera and mic settings under ‘chat’.
More from Webware:
Verify your identity on Google Profiles
OK, this one I tried and it did not work for me, apparently there are some bugs to work out. It suppose to verify that you are who you say you are by using a CC or phone number. The idea behind this is for users to build credibility and trustworthiness on your Google Profile, which is for now at least, a dashboard for different item like Gmaps that you have published publicly. The profile page looks almost like a social network home page, given that you can show links to blogs as well as other social utility accounts. Seems that everytime I look at my profile page it has more bells and whistles (I just looked and they added a widget for you to bring in pictures). My guess is that it will turn into a Social Networking platform before you know it, taking down the behemoth FaceBook. <wink>
That’s it for now. I do hope to get something up soon either here or over at bloodhound on the use of Google Apps for your business.
